The Star: The Fool’s Journey

17. The Star

A naked woman kneels by a body of water. She pours out two vessels of water, one onto the ground, the second into the river. Behind her seven bright stars shine in the sky. New hope has arrived after the destructive forces cease.

The Journey

There is sense of calm found after the destructive forces of The Tower tore down what once was. The Fool finds light in the darkness and something to look forward to. Though what once was is no more, the future is bright, hopeful, and full of potential.

The Fool opens themself up and lets it all flow. Both are the creations of the conscious, but the subconscious as well. Flowing and freeing the Fool on a deep level.

Symbolism

The two vessels the woman holds symbolize both vessels of self. The conscious vessel, and the subconscious. The seven stars in the sky are the seven-star sisters, the Pleiades constellation. Seven is the number of Venus. The bird in the tree, a Benu bird or phoenix, is a symbol of rebirth, wisdom, and freedom.

The Star represents liberation on all levels. To be freed from all the bounds that hold us back from being who we truly are.

Energy of The Star

For each card, I am choosing a song or two that I feel embodies the energy. For The Star, I chose “I Have a Dream” from Tangled, and “Rare” by Selena Gomez.

I have a dream shows how even in the darkest of places we can find light, hope, and excitement! Like Rapunzel says, “With each passing hour, I’m so glad I left my tower!” And with the song Rare, I feel the energy of opening up and letting it all spill out after the tower is embodied well. It is a crossroads of sort. For self at least.

“Baby (baby)
You’ve been so distant from me lately (lately)

And lately (and lately)
Don’t even want to call you baby (baby)

Saw us getting older (older)
Burning toast in the toaster
My ambitions were too high (high)
Waiting up for you upstairs (upstairs)
Why you act like I’m not there?
Baby, right now it feels like

It feels like you don’t care
Oh, why don’t you recognize I’m so rare?

Always there
You don’t do the same for me
That’s not fair”

“I’m malicious, mean and scary
My sneer could curdle dairy
And violence wise, my hands are not the cleanest
But despite my evil look
And my temper, and my hook
I’ve always yearned to be a concert pianist

Can’t ya see me on the stage performin’ Mozart
Ticklin’ the ivories ’til they gleam?
Yep, I’d rather be called deadly
For my killer show tune medley
Thank you
‘Cause way down deep inside
I’ve got a dream”
